On Orphans By The Sea

An orphan by window,

An orphan by window sees the wind.

How it blows with a gusto tonight on the lighthouse.

Endless waves, on a chilly day,

Demain, the first of Septembre's end.

Come with me, and enjoy this coming calm.

Spend some time with me, on this very day.

Let us nurture this orphan,

Who washed to shore from the sea.

Give him a daily bread not for religious vows,

But for secular vows.

Give them to him because you love,

But not for god.
