once upon a time
or once in a lifetime
a girl got lost and found herself facing
a huge dragon in a cave
she was staring right into the mouth
counting all those sharp teeth, and her doubts
- there really were more than thirteen! -
she wondered what to do or if to shout
she heard a whisper in her ear
"just head on" it told her
she shivered and she quivered
she really felt alone
"now is the time"
she heard the voice again
it urged her on
she really made a step
but before she could move on
her counterpart began to run
she wondered why and felt a pang of shame:
What did she do to make the girl run away?
