Spring
Spring is not always gentle and soft
When snow and ice are melting away
Scars once covered in hardened frost
Will be dragged into the light of day
Exposed to a freezing cold for to long
Then at the sound of a bird's first song
Suddenly plunged into warm water, like rain
You feel not warmth but pain
When you have never been wanted before
The confining ice like an armor you wore
You havn't even known that to be frozen is an agony
You thought being alone was what made you free
But now that something grew, something so new
Now that there is someone who treasures you
Who surrounds you with warmth, no touch in vain
It is as though you finally have a right to feel pain
Every inch of your body is on fire, no turning back
Every inch of your skin does open up and crack
Like soil when flowers break through the dirt
Only now can you feel the hurt
Spring is not always gentle and soft
When snow and ice are melted away
Some things get bared, others lost
What is left is meant to stay
