Dear community,
after a long meeting yesterday evening, I can write you the first announcement today.
We talked extensively about basic functions that should be available initially. Roughly speaking: everyone should be able to chat, write/publish, comment and read at the beginning.
When it comes to gamification, as much as we all really love it, unfortunately, it's not a priority for the time being.
This means: If there is enough time until the "new Belletristica comes out" to deal with it, the first things in the game area will already be available - but that is more of a wishful thinking if we are honest and it is much more likely that it will just be added gradually.
Details of which features will be there, which we will add later and improve if necessary or not adopt at all, will not be available at the moment and we also ask that you do not discuss any further about what you would definitely like to have or not, because... Be sure: We, too, are primarily users of Belle who love this site and all its possibilities! Various team members have made it their mission to note down every little feature and event of Belletristica so that we don't lose sight of anything and of course we would like to keep everything that works and is really important.
There will be a detailed announcement about which features this ultimately affects as soon as we can really see what is feasible by the end of the year and what is not (we are only at the beginning).
But it would be much more important for us to introduce you to a new task force.
Task force? What is that?
Over the next period of time, the core team will create task forces, you can imagine them a bit like the fairies, for the areas that are needed. E.g.: communication, gamification, technical, etc. Since we have already noticed how much the communications team is needed, especially in the early days, we would like to expand it. In order to avoid chaos and unrest, we have also decided to appoint leaders of the respective task forces. I would now like to introduce these to you:
Main person responsible for the communications task force: Felix H. Deputy: Leegween
We are also already looking for people who can support the communications task force. We have already viewed people and created a list. There are also some people on this list that we would like to take a closer look at, simply because we may not be able to assess them very well yet, but we have already noticed these users in a positive way !
What is very important to us here is that we know you would all like to help, that is absolutely understandable! But please forgive us if not everyone can get a “job” straight away, but over time there will be more and more vacancies and compatibility with the core team must also be guaranteed.
So please don't take it personally if we don't find anything for you yet.
Your solidarity, your being there gives us a lot of tailwind, thank you for that!
There will be no job postings for the communications task force. How come?
Now you can see it a little bit, like appointing a new moderator. The Order of Knights has always suggested people they found suitable and discussed internally whether everyone would agree to accept them.
Seen in this way, users for the communications team are “figureheads” for the Shattered Throne project, who have to go into the public eye and therefore have to withstand a “certain amount of pressure”.
Since we consider this to be very important, we want to be sure that these users fit into this "role model" role and that they have already shown us in advance that they can handle such situations, etc.
So please, please, please refrain from writing to us that you also see yourself in this role and that you would like to do it. We will become aware of you if we also see it that way.
In the near future, invitations will arrive for some users that we would like to invite to the communications task force. If you are not there for now, that doesn't mean that you will never have the chance, maybe you are on the " Watchlist" and we just need to get a better idea of you.
We also don't want to discourage anyone! Not everyone has the same character traits, abilities, etc. Not everyone is good at presenting themselves in front of a crowd or maintaining an overview, asserting themselves in emergencies or something similar.
The job offers that do not belong to the communications team follow! Please just be patient, because we are also really grateful for any help, but we also have to keep the big picture in mind and, as sorry as we are, make a selection.
And two other small concerns that result from recurring situations (in the german chats so far):
1. (Quote Lyndis:) "In general, half the rule applies: If we want suggestions, we ask for them. I think as mods we have an extremely good view of what needs improvement. That's not meant in a bad way at all, but we would like to avoid spending too much time explaining that we're already thinking about something and can focus more on the actual project."
2. The project is intentionally named "Shattered Throne" and not "Belle 3.0" so as not to give false hope that we will create an improved version of Belle out of the ground.
Yes, in the long term it is of course our aim to make improvements, but initially it will (see above) be “only” a minimal version at the beginning. That's why we simply don't want to increase the pressure of expectations.
Even if "Belle 3.0" is shorter, we prefer to call the project "Shattered Throne" or "S.T." In the end it is of course up to you, as I said, it is a request in order not to build up further pressure, which is already present with such a large project.
Summary (for those who don't like reading too much):
- At the beginning of the "new version" minimal functions should be guaranteed so that the platform is functional in the first place. It won't always stay that way, new features will be added little by little!
-> Directly there will be: chatting, reading, writing, commenting
(roughly speaking)
-> a detailed list of which features will still be adopted and with what
priority (as programming progresses)
-> Gamification will definitely have the lowest priority and can only be
added gradually
- A communications task force will be founded (other task force areas such as: gamification, legal, etc. will follow)
- The main people responsible and deputies for the communications task force are Felix H. & Leegween
- We are currently increasingly looking for new members for the communications task force.
-> However, without a job advertisement, as we reserve the right to
select these ourselves.
- We kindly ask you to be patient with us and to show some understanding if we are unable to offer you a "position" for the time being.
- We are incredibly happy to have such a great community and to be part of it ourselves. Thank you very much for all your kind and motivating words that have reached us over the last few days! You are wonderful!
- If we “want” user suggestions, we ask for them. This is to prevent us from becoming too distracted instead of focusing on the actual project. (This is not meant bad in any way, just something we are facing right now in the german chat)
- Since "Belle 3.0" could create a certain level of expectation, we prefer the name "Shattered Throne". (but it's just a small thing)
PS: The FAQs have been expanded to include the following points:
- What programming language does the core team want to use for the Shattered Throne?
- Does this mean Belle will remain free and ad-free?
- Naming of public core team members.
- What happens to Ben, Sebi and the fairies?
- Does this mean that it is “pointless” to continue working on my achievements/uploading my stories/participating in events/etc.?
Best regards
Leegween, representing the entire Shattered Throne core team
Please note (again):
- If anything is unclear, please ask questions about the announcement in the “Infopoint” group.
- We cannot provide any further details for the time being.
- Please do not write to the core team members privately regarding this announcement/project, that is what the info group is for.
- Thank you ~
