Summary: Paul Atreides, the exiled Duke of Arrakis, has been resisting a path he has seen only glimpses of, one that scares him, but he wants revenge on House Harkonnen and the Emperor for his father's murder so he embraces the path that he has feared, a path prophesied by the Fremen and the religious order his mother belongs to, the Bene Geserit.
Performances: So as you can see from the "starring" section, the cast of this movie is full of big name stars.
It's been ages since I've seen Christopher Walken in anything. He looks quite old in this (he is quite old). But he was a good choice for the Emperor. Emperor Shaddam is the 4th Emperor in sci-fi that I've added to my list of galactic emperors I know of (the other three are Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars, Zurg from the Toy Story franchise, and Xur from The Last Starfighter).
It was good to see Javier Bardem in a more sympathetic role. I know him primarily as Captain Salazar in Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and Raoul Silva in Skyfall. In Dune, he is Stilgar, the leader of the Fremen tribe in the Southern region of Arrakis and a zealot who believes the teachings of the Bene Geserit.
Rebecca Ferguson, who I know as Ilsa Faust in Mission: Impossible, is great as Lady Jessica, Paul's Bene Geserit mother.
Léa Seydoux, who I know as Sabine Moreau in Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protoccol and Dr. Madeleine Swann in the James Bond franchise, is great as Bene Geserit member Lady Margot Fenring.
It was good to see Josh Brolin, who I know as Thanos in the MCU, in a more sympathetic role. Gurney Halleck is a likeable character.
Dave Bautista, who I know as Drax in the MCU and Hinx in SPECTRE, is great as Rabban Harkonnen.
Stellan Skarsgard, who I know as Bootstrap Bill in Pirates of the Caribbean, Dr. Erik Selvig in the MCU, and Captain Tupolev in The Hunt For Red October, was great as Baron Harkonnen.
Florence Pugh, who I know as Amy March in Greta Gerwig's Little Women, Yelena Belova in the MCU, and Elizabeth Bruce in Outlaw King, is great as Princess Irulan, the Emperor's daughter and a Bene Geserit.
Zendaya, who I know as MJ Watson in the Spider-Man movies starring Tom Holland, is great as Chani, a Fremen girl and Paul's significant other.
And last but certainly not least, Timothée Chalamet, who I know as Laurie Laurence in Greta Gerwig's Little Women, is superb as protagonist Paul Atreides.
Overall: I enjoyed this film.
