Mimosa was so big, Sol needed a group of watchers.
Sol was a strict ruler. He was distrustful, always fearing the darkness might spread to Mimosa. Neptun leaving with so many supporters without his father knowing in advance proofed to him that he wouldn't see everything. So he went to the protectors, the mighty titans, and searched for some willing to protect Mimosa as guardians. The watchers should take turns around the year and report to him.
Many warriors didn't have time for this extra work. The first to agree was the elk Nunki. By now he had many sons, and the Ibex Capricornus also agreed to help.
They would be the first guardians. Nunki would soon lead them across the sky, ans Capricornus followed close after his father.
A second son of Nunki, ram Aries, was torn. Afraid they might be too few guardians having too much work, he asked for more time.
In the meantime, Capricornus, who was a friend of the river, went to the carp-kind Sadalsuud. They were close friends and even allays. Apart from the king of fish, Pisces also joined them, daughter of the great whale Shemali. As Capricornus returned with them, Aries also joined them, as did the bull Aldeban ruby-star. Both wanted to help Sol protect Mimosa.
Now there were six watchers, but Sol wasn't satisfied. He went to the titans and asked for help again.
Castor and Pollux agreed to take turns helping out. Next was Cancer, the crab who helped build the armor of Draco, still searching forgiveness. After some hesitation, Algieba joined and Virgo followed. Then the mighty maple-tree Cornu told them he would help, and finally Skorpio joined, who herad his old friend Nunki was part of the group.
These were the twelve guardians that still watch over the lands to this day. During the year, each watches for a month and spends the other eleven in Andromeda. Only Castor and Pollux watch together or split to watcher and defendant.
Sol returned to Mimosa and introduced the mighty protectors to his creations. It was a grandious sight!
In front was Nunki, marching slow and powerful. He comes in winter, when times are darkest, and brings new hope. It is he that bodes a new year and a new beginning, like Mimosa was a new beginning after Andromeda.
Behind him is his son Capricornus, the peak-climber, who can scale every mountain without fail. He strifes to live up to his fathers name, he is ambitious and hard-working and brings the will to seize the year.
Next is the carp-king Sadalsuud, who makes plans to carry out the ambitions. He's a tactician who can exploit the year - if he manages to balance his plans.
Pisces, daughter of Shemali and Aboras, is shy, but very empathic. She gets the souls of the dead when their time in Mimosa is over. Pisces leads them through the portals to the star-fields, where the souls awake in darkness. They have to find their way back to the light before they can return, 'cause that's how death is in our world now; and it will never be like it was in Andromeda.
Following Pisces there's Nunki's second son, Aries. He is a fighter and doer, working on the plans after the time of mourning.
Behind him is the bull Aldeban who could withstand the darkness. He gives us strength and power to follow our own light and withstand every hard time.
Then there are Castor and Pollux, twin sons of Vulpecula. They are still crafty and sly. Sometimes their plans might surprise us, not going toward the goal, only to reach it on another way.
After the twins, there's the crab Cancer. He still hides shamefully due to his regrets, but he helps those that need mercy and sympathy. He is a silent guardian, who knows of the might of forgiveness.
Algieba, the tigress, is proud and brave. When she comes, you should look back onto plans fulfilled. She teaches us to know our strengths and be proud of our work.
Virgo, however, the young wolfess, still cares more about the small gestures than big deeds. Her deep friendship with Algieba is even more astonishing, given their differences.
Cornu, the big maple tree, tries to keep balance. He is diplomatic and was able to solve many a fight between the two friends.
Skorpio, the hero of the great war, is the last in line. He is a strong fighter, who, when he is sure of his battle, keeps going without regard for the pain is causes him.
These twelve guardians with their different ways watched from then on over Mimosa and made sure everyone was following Lupus' rules. They told Sol of every misstep and decided at the end of the year how to deal with the criminal. The last word, however, has the one who spotted the crime. Who was seen by Cancer can hope for forgiveness, much more than those that have been seen by Skorpio. And the guardians also give their favor to those they like. Algieba for example likes the warriors, Cornu the diplomats.
But in secret, unbeknownst to even the other guardians, Sol had a thirteenth guardian. This was Sabik Arrow-Star himself, but he was called snake-killer or snake-bearer by Sol to keep his nature secret, after his deed in the war where he killed Serpens.
He watches, when all guardians sleep, silent and invisible, just when all criminals feel safe. Whoever is seen by the snake-killer cannot hope for mercy. Sabik and Sol alone judge the criminal and Sol hunts them without mercy and swift, for the criminal tried to hide from the watchful eyes.
