At day, the star's light was taken from them. And with blindness came doubt to the wolves.
Time went by. Theia and Lunis, the only gods left, were only watching. The kings and even the guardians rarely appeared, often only in the fur of their offspring. Soon, this wasn't considered proof anymore, and many wolves turned from Lupus' teachings and the virtues of Eridanus. They didn't believe there had once been light outside of Mimosa, they didn't believe the old stories and forgot about the old songs.
But not all of them...
There was one wolf who didn't give up his search for proof and answers. He was so eager that soon he had a pack to help him.
The name of the searching one was Thireuo. When other wolves either blindly trusted the stars or gave up their believe entirely, he was looking for proof to convince other's as well. With him were his beta-wolf Tariq, and the she-wolf Stella, child of two strong believers. There were Ylika and her brother Ylli, and the siblings Izar and Izarra, Sitarah, the scout, she-wolf Nyota with the beautiful voice and the omega-wolf Zvezdan, who spun the stories. As the wolves went to search for the star's trail, a raven joined them, Shihab, who - as ravens often do - hoped to get a share of the spoil, even if they preyed on something else than food.
They searched the land near and far, looking for remains, for proof. For in these days, the wolves had become small, and they were still shrinking. Only the nine lines of the Kings were big, and sometimes one of their bloodline would open eyes as read as the fires of Cepheus, and he would carry the spirit of one of the great kings or his pack in his soul. Thireuo talked to many of them, but he found no compelling evidence.
Finally, a fox joined them, Beteigeuze, with a pelt of golden brown. This was none other than Sol himself! As he had heared of Thireuo's quest, he had gained new hope. Cautious still, he went to Vulpecula to learn the art of decieve from the fox titan, to join Thireuo's pack undercover and see if his intentions were true.
But it came differently. For Thireuo heard about a scholar named Ptolemäus, who knew more about the stars than anybody else. But he was human - and before anyone could stop him, Thireuo went to the enemy. In exchange for informationen about the stars, Ptolemäus asked for the knowledge of Thireuo, which he gave, albeit hesitantly.
Thireuo kept his visits a secret, to protect his pack. He knew he was doing wrong, but he was so desperate that he saw no other way. For Ptolemäus could see far beyond the reaches of the world. Auriga and Indus were destroyed, however, their cunning lived on in the humans, just like the wolves still carried the heritage of titans. Thus, humans could invent things to break all rules of Mimosa.
Thireuo learned a lot from Ptolemäus. In return, he told him more and more about the star songs. Ptolemäus shared this knowledge with other humans, and although is got interwoven with the human's tales, is wasn't secret anymore.
Until Sol and the others learned about it, it was already too late and many of the old truths of the wolves revealed. Almost half the legends! Thireuo had told of the darkness, of many titans, of the Eridanus and of Sol's Guardians, of Arae's sacrifice, and Mirfak, of Sabik and Kornephorus, of Sham and Gliese and Kentaur, yes, even of Draco and many servants of the darkness.
Sol, who had planned to soon reveal himself to Thireou and end his search, went almost mad with rage. He left the pack, still disguised as Beteigeuze, and returned to the sky. He called all the titans for one last act of creation, and together they took the human's ability to speak with all other animals. Not one word should ever be shared with the heirs of Indus and Auriga, for the humans had brought too much sorrow. Only Bootes, the bear-keeper, was allowed his ability to speak, and to this day there are some humans that can regain a slither of this ability if they are only true of heart.
Dogs, however, chose their side in the war and went with the humans. They turned their back on the wolves and learned the language of two-legs, but they won't ever be able to tell the secrets of the wolves, for they have forgotten them.
Thireuo didn't know what happened, but he understood Sol somehow learned of his doings and was angry. This was just the proof he had needed! But alas, it came in sad form. Many a friendship was broken, and humans became the enemy of the wolves for good. Maybe this should've happened in Andromeda already, when Indus tamed the dog Chara or when the trap-layer set foot in the realm. Now the titans regretted being so forgiving and they deemed Mimosa lost. From now on, they only wanted to take care of the star-fields, this last past of Andromeda still save, caught in the net of Auriga and threathened by darkness, guarding Mimosa in it's middle that nobody bothered to look at.
Not many still cared about the fate of the new realm. These few were the nine kings, above all Theia, while Neptun turned away as well. Sirius, Arktur and Canopus surprisingly went to Mimosa; their bloodlines would become the ninth, tenth and eleventh line of wolves with red eyes.
Now, it seems, all stories have been told. Eleven lines of king wolves, with their packs, rule over Mimosa. Sol had averted his gaze disappointed, but his guardians were still there, giving heavy punishment to anyone breaking the ruled. Sol took revenge on everyone who further dishonoured Mimosa.
But there is still one song left to sing; and it might be the most beautiful and saddest of them all.
