For one set to sleep for all time,
a rose laid atop his wooden coffin,
he walks and flies much too often.
His eyes a deep scarlet and skin
pale and cold to touch, his teeth
sharp gleam in starlit glimmer;
his nails like daggers in the dark,
and from his back, leather flaps,
arching flesh; terrible bat wings.
