Dear Senator Harris,
I don't know if you'll ever read this. I know you're a very busy woman. If you become Vice President, you'll be even busier. Some say I didn't vote for Mr. Biden for President. They think I voted for you for President. I just tell them I voted for the Democratic ticket and ask them to leave it at that. If you do read this, just know that I am on your and Joe's side. I voted for you.
For me, the choice between Joe and you, Trump, and a thirty-party candidate was clear. Third-party candidates aren't viable so my choice was between you and Joe and Trump and Pence. Just like you and your fellow Democrats, I do not think our country can take another four years of Donald Trump. I could not in good conscience vote for the Republican ticket.
Even though I voted for you, Joe, and other Dem candidates on the ballot, there is one policy I have to express my objections for. It is my duty to inform you of my disagreement with your party's stance on abortion.
Your party prides itself on standing up for the little guys, usually. Senator, I consider the unborn as part of the marginalized and the oppressed.
There's a way to support women's rights and also protect the lives of innocent, defenseless babies. I am all for women's rights. But abortion rights are not part of womens' rights to me. To me, it is not a valid option. It is the downright murder of innocents.
I would not condemn a struggling mother. Adoption is an option.
It was heartening to hear you say that the Democrats don't have anything against Christianity in your debate against Vice President Pence. I am glad that you are a believer. And thank you for pointing out that Joe would be only the second Catholic president in the history of our nation. I am also a Catholic, but I am pro-life. I love it when political candidates talk about their religion and practice it.
I wish you and Joe all the best of luck. You will be in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Susana
