I had planned for my next chapter to be a review of A Few Good Men (1992). However, I am more than happy to deviate temporarily from my reviews of Tom Cruise-led films. This movie is one that has been one I've wanted to watch for a while now, since it has Gerard Butler in it, and it's a submarine movie.
Genre: Action, drama, military
Rating: R
Run time: 2 hrs 2 min
Starring:
Gerard Butler as Captain Joe Glass
Gary Oldman as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Donnegan
Summary: American Navy officer Joe Glass, an unconventional submarine captain, is put in charge of warship USS Arkansas, a Virginia class sub. While looking for a missing American sub in Russian waters, Glass discovers that the Russian Minister of Defense has staged a coup, overthrowing the Russian President. Working with a Navy SEAL team, Glass must help rescue the Russian President and prevent World War III.
Performances: I know of Oldman's versatility as an actor. He was very good in this.
Gerry did very well, too.
Overall: I enjoyed this movie.
