Even though I am a loyal American (and always will be), the news of Queen Elizabeth's passing shocked me and has filled me with much grief. She was Queen as long as I have been alive. As I write this, I am on the verge of tears. As a longtime fan of the British Royal Family, I admired and respected the Queen a great deal. I even considered writing a letter to Her Majesty on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee to say congratulations. 70 years is a long time to rule. The late Queen's lifetime of selfless service to her people is inspiring and noble. May Her Majesty The Queen rest in peace. My thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt condolences are with the Royal Family, the people of the United Kingdom, and the British Commonwealth at this time of deep sadness and loss.
As I join the world in grieving the UK's longest reigning monarch, a lady of unwavering selflessness, dignity, grace, and poise, I also express my support for Their Majesties The King and Queen as they assume the great responsibility and burden of the British throne. I wish them a successful reign and I look forward to the coronation. God bless the King and Queen!
