Content advisory
Sex & nudity:
Indy wakes up shirtless in the living room of his apartment
Indy reconciles with his wife Marion and he kisses her where she says it hurts as a callback to the first movie before the two kiss on the lips.
Violence & gore: This is an Indiana Jones film so violence is par for the course.
In the opening sequence, Nazi soldiers capture Indy and put a noose around his neck. They order him to tell his story or they will hang him as a spy.
In the same scene, a bomb lands on a lower floor of the building. The bomb explodes, killing everyone except Indy.
Indy scuffles with a Nazi officer on top of a train and tells his colleague Baz to shoot the Nazi. Baz accidentally shoots Indy. The shot only wounds Indy. Then, Baz shoots the Nazi.
A secretary and a college professor are murdered by Voller's trigger-happy henchman.
Indy throws lots of punches at people throughout the movie.
Helena's ex-fiance chases her and Indy with a scimitar because Helena broke his heart.
Voller murders Indy's friend Renaldo
Helena uses dynamite and Voller's cigarette to create an explosion as a diversion so she and Indy can get away from Voller and his men.
Voller and his men kidnap Helena's partner Teddy but they do not harm him.
Indy gets shot again during the climax, but once more, the bullet merely wounds him.
The climax of the film involves using the Dial to go back in time to 1939 so Voller can assassinate Hitler and ensure Germany wins the Second World War, but the Dial can only bring people to one point in time: the Siege of Syracuse in 212 BC.
As a result of this, the Siege of Syracuse is depicted.
A Roman soldier is about to kill Indy, when one of Archimedes' apprentices shoots the Roman soldier fatally with an arrow.
Frightening & intense scenes:
Helena, Renaldo, and Indy dive to an Ancient Roman shipwreck at the bottom of the Aegean Sea to find directions to the location of the second half of the Dial. The shipwreck is full of eels, and the eels may be scary to some viewers.
The Siege of Syracuse sequence may be intense for younger viewers as well as the sequence in which Voller uses the Dial to try to go back in time and assassinate Hitler.
A passage in the cave of Dionysius is filled with centipedes, which freak out Indy and Helena. The centipedes may gross out some viewers.
Alcohol & drugs: People drink champagne at Indy's brief retirement celebration.
Voller smokes cigarettes.
Helena finds Indy at a bar and they each drink a glass of scotch.
Other notes: The only thing I didn’t like is the Nazis were after a Christian or Jewish artifact to use it for malevolent purposes, as usual. But this time, the Nazis going after the lance that pierced Christ’s side is based on historical fact. The Nazis did try to find the lance in the hopes of using its supernatural power to help them win the Second World War, as if God would let them use such a precious relic for malevolent purposes. God permits many awful things to happen, but I doubt letting the Nazis use the lance that pierced His Son's side to achieve world domination and the annihilation of the Jews is one of them.
Overall: This was a perfect conclusion to Harrison Ford’s time as Indiana Jones.
