Every time I visit you,
I look at the curves of your trunk
the knotholes, the smooth cut of a sawn-off branch
the contours of your bark, the play of colors in the moss
the crown into which your neighbor's branch is gripping -
and each time they appear all new
Not only due to the ever-changing light
not only through my constantly changing mood
Something in you is so fresh, so alive, even in the retreat of winter
Something that makes me feel, sense, rejoice
Invigorating, bringing joy, deep calm, peace
the Incomprehensible is embodied in you
In you thrives the lifeblood, the breath of life
that weaves through everything, connects, enlivens
Every time I visit you
I look renewed, Life's essence in me
connects in tune with you,
I walk my path strengthened,
a song, a poem, a tale that you
may grant me from heart to heart
