»No … I will not buy you a rodent as a pet, Noemi«, Jonathan told his daughter.
»But daddy … she so fluffy an‹ her tail … she pretty«, Noemi told him and pouted.
»No. Just no, Noemi. No rats, hamsters, mice or any other type of rodent will come into the house«, Jonathan calmly said.
He grabbed the three year old girl under her arms and put her on his hip, calmly walking with her through the pet store. Jonathan evaded the dogs, but stepped towards the cats.
»How about a kitty cat, lil one?«, he asked Noemi.
Noemi's lip quivered but at least she didn't cry and took a look at the kittens in front of her.
She studied the fluffy balls of fur for a while before pointing towards a little black ball of fur with bright green eyes.
»Tis one, daddy«, Noemi said softly.
He put her down and Noemi toddled over to the kitten she had seen. It was a beautiful young Ragdoll kitten.
Jonathan turned towards Isabella who had watched the whole exchange without saying anything. She simply nodded while kneeling down next to Noemi who had pulled the kitten into her lap without hesitation.
»Shes beautiful. What will you call her?«, Isabella asked her daughter.
Noemi thought about it as carefully as a three year old could.
»Like … like that woman on TV who shouts«, she said.
Jonathan looked confused while Isabella understood.
»You want to call her Banshee?«, she asked.
Noemi nodded and smiled.
»Okay … Banshee it is«
Jonathan went to search for a worker and came back a few minutes later.
When they left nearly an hour later they had kitty chow, milk, a bed, toys, a litter box, litter and pretty accessories for their brand new kitten.
Jonathan carried it without complaint. He was just happy not to have a rodent in the house.
