Anxiously Isabella was walking in circles through the living-room. She was waiting for the home pregnancy test to develop.
Her heart was pounding with hope. She wanted to be pregnant again so much. She didn't want Noemi to stay an only-child.
Isabella herself was an only-child and she didn't want her daughter to experience the lonely childhood she herself had experienced.
The alarm on her phone was going of.
She stopped it and walked into the bathroom where she had left the test on the counter.
The young woman stared at the little window on the stick and saw only a lonely line in it.
Isabella sank to her knees and started crying.
Once again the test was negative.
Once again she had failed to get pregnant.
Once again she had failed to make her daughter a big sister.
Once again she had crushed her own hopes.
Her body was wracked with bone-shaking sobs.
She was such a failure.
Suddenly a pair of strong, warm arms wrapped around her and pulled her against a strong chest.
»Don't cry, love. You will get pregnant when the time is right. Not a moment earlier, not a moment later,« Jonathan whispered into her ear. He didn't try to comfort her more.
He knew all about Isabella's hopes, but he also knew how all the stress she put herself through kept her from getting pregnant. He just didn't mention it because he didn't want to add to the stress.
