The Curse of the Black Pearl
This is the first one and it's good. The plot was good. It's fun and has a lot of humor. Visuals are great. The actors did a good job. I love Will and Elizabeth's romance.
Dead Man's Chest
A good sequel with a good plot that builds on the first movie. It's slightly darker with the introduction of Lord Cutler Beckett and Davy Jones. It maintains the fun and humor of the first film.
At World's End
A good third installment that's almost three hours long, full of plot twists and action, and even more dark, despite critics and a lot of fans disliking it. It's my favorite out of all the movies. It has some funny moments. Still a good, entertaining film if one goes along with the story and doesn't try to sort out the plot or make predictions. In my opinion, the plot is not confusing like the reviews say. Plot builds on the second movie. Was supposed to be the conclusion to the Will and Elizabeth story arc.
On Stranger Tides
The awful fourth installment that everyone hates. This is Captain Jack's rogue, solo adventure. No Will and Elizabeth.
Dead Men Tell No Tales
A good fifth installment that builds on the previous two, despite the fact that Jack is no longer the cunning, lovable trickster we know and love. He's a drunken, money-hungry flop. Unlike many fans who weren't sold on the Henry Turner and Carina Barbossa-based plot and thought it went awry, I thought that was a good move on Disney's part and I really liked it. Also unlike most fans and critics, I liked that the focus of Dead Men Tell No Tales was on the Turners. A satisfying conclusion to the Turner story arc. Captain Jack Sparrow aside, the film was solid and was better than 4. I look at Dead Men Tell No Tales as a continuation and conclusion of the Turner, Barbossa, and Sparrow stories, not as a reboot. It feels like a reboot, especially with Henry and Carina in the lead roles, but it wasn't.
