I just saw Cars 3 recently. I enjoyed it, but there were parts that were hard for me to accept.
To help you understand what was hard for me and why, let me tell you about my relationship with the Cars franchise.
I was a kid when the first movie came out in 2006. I saw Cars 1 with my family in the theatre multiple times. That's how much I loved it. I still love Cars 1 to this day.
When Cars 2 came out in 2011, a family friend took me to see it as her present to me for the occasion of my promotion from middle school. I thought it was good, but not as good as the first one.
Ever since I saw the first movie, Lightning McQueen and Mater have always been my favorite characters. They've been my heroes ever since then.
Seeing Lightning get older was hard for me. Seeing him have a hard time maintaining high speeds for long periods of time was hard. Seeing a younger, more technologically advanced rookie race car and a jerk of a new Rusteeze owner try to push Lightning out of the sport he loves and makes a living off of was really hard. The idea of Lightning having to retire from racing was very difficult to deal with.
