I actually think that booting Johnny was a good decision and in the franchise's best interest. I eagerly embrace the idea of rebooting the series, especially with reports of the reboot being helmed by a female protagonist. One of the things that a reboot should do is move on from the Turner story arc. As much as I love the first three movies and Dead Men Tell No Tales, the Sparrow, Barbossa, and Turner story arcs have run their courses.
