I have become aware that there are phans who hate Christine because they think she was a prick to the Phantom and they think she didn't care for him. Some also think she's dumb. Now, it hurts my feelings when people bash Raoul. It hurts my feelings even more when Christine gets hate for "being a prick to the Phantom and not caring about him." I love Christine. When Christine gets bashed in phanfiction, I will leave a comment, for the most part.

There's an Erik x OC fanfiction on Fanfiction.net in which the OC impugns Christine's character to her face for rejecting Erik and reduces her value down to her physical beauty. Fanfiction authors who have lead characters do that either completely misunderstand Christine's character or understand Christine's character just fine and willfully assassinate her character. That puts such authors in a similar position as ALW, because he assassinated Christine's character in Love Never Dies.

However, in some cases, I won't dislike the phanfic just because Christine got bashed. If the phanfic is an Erik x reader story or a book of Erik x reader one-shots in which the reader bashes Christine for "being selfish and ungrateful," or calls her wicked, I will leave a comment saying that I do not view Christine choosing Raoul as being selfish and ungrateful or she isn't wicked. I would be very gracious about her choosing Raoul. She was scared and did what she thought was best. I could never be angry at her for that. Nor would I say things like I wouldn't walk out on you like she did. If anything, I would remind Erik that Christine was very kind when she kissed him and gave him the ring to remember her by. Christine is a very sweet character. She was not a prick to the Phantom and she did care about him. She was not selfish, ungrateful, or wicked. She isn't as dumb as people think she is.
