I learned recently three things about Reylo. First, the actor and actress who play Rey and Kylo Ren/Ben Solo don't support the romance between their two Star Wars characters. I understand why: Rey and Ben's relationship throughout the sequel trilogy is toxic and unhealthy, but at the end of the day, their opinions are just that: opinions. Actors typically don't analyze their characters too much and it's not their job to. Everyone has opinions and everyone is entitled to them. We just need to remember to respect others' opinions. There is nothing wrong as long as you ship Rey & Kylo/Ben in a healthy way by writing & reading AU fanfiction in which their relationship is healthy.
Second, The Rise of Skywalker novelization causes controversy and confusion by allegedly saying the kiss that Ben & Rey shared wasn't romantic.
However, there's an article on Forbes that states that the novelization doesn't deny the romance between Rey and Ben. I trust that article.
Third, J.J. Abrams stated he thought Rey and Ben's relationship is more of a brother and sister relationship rather than a romantic one. Yes, Abrams directed The Rise of Skywalker and The Force Awakens. However, the feelings/tension between Rey and Ben were evidently romantic throughout The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. So I don't buy that it was more of a sibling relationship.
Don't get me wrong: platonic relationships are wonderful and in today's society, they are way undervalued. Society hypersexualizes everything. Platonic relationships between men and women are often construed as sexual. Even platonic relationships between people of the same gender are often construed as sexual/romantic.
But this is not the case with Reylo.
