I've recently become aware that people have labeled Rey a Mary Sue and I can see why. However, I disagree with people who have labeled her a Mary Sue. Here's what I think a Mary Sue would do in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi and why Rey doesn't fit the bill for me. A Mary Sue would have single-handedly destroyed Starkiller base, turned Kylo Ren back to the light side, and saved the Resistance single-handedly. Rey didn't do any of those things, much less on her own. To those people who say she only wins and succeeds, she couldn't persuade Kylo Ren/Ben Solo to turn back to the light side. She told him that she saw his future and said, "You'll turn." But he didn't. Also, Snoke fooled her. This is why I think Rey isn't a Mary Sue.
Just a heads up, when people bash Rey, I get defensive because I think she's awesome.
