Henneguya zschokkei ist ein Parasit aus dem Taxon Myxozoa, der bestimmte Lachsfische der Gattungen Oncorhynchus, Salmo und Coregonus befällt. Die Myxozoa werden aufgrund von Genomanalysen zu den Nesseltieren (Cnidaria) gerechnet.

Dieser Parasit ist das erste bekannte, mehrzellige Tier, das keine Mitochondrien besitzt, damit ist es auch das einzige bekannte mehrzellige Tier, dass keine aerobe Atmung zur Energiegewinnung betreibt (wie dieses Lebewesen Energiegewinnung betreibt, ist leider nicht bekannt).

Da Henneguya zschokkei keine aerobe Atmung betreibt, atmet es also auch keinen Sauerstoff - ebenfalls als einziges, mehrzelliges Tier.
